Saturday classes at Chi Chi’s

First Tee of Clearwater uses golf to teach youth life lessons and leadership skills. Sessions include a fun, group setting for youth ages 4 to 18 regardless of background or previous experience. Teaming up with experts in positive youth development, First Tee of Clearwater helps youth become good golfers and even better people.

TARGET is an exciting introduction to First Tee Life Skills Experience. It was developed to introduce young people to golf in a safe environment that promotes curiosity about the game while integrating essential links between golf and life skills seamlessly. These early, positive experiences may help young people develop an immediate interest in opportunities available at First Tee, as well as life-long interest in the game of golf.

notes: first tee’s player level is the first certification level & entry level into first tee’s life skills experience programs.

PLAYer level has three areas of focus – play, learn & appreciate – and when they are combined they are designed to result in one outcome. That outcome is to help PLAYers develop and play their game. Individuals trained through First Tee’s Coach Program are encouraged to design lesson plans to include these areas of focus, while establishing an activity-based, mastery-driven environment that empowers youth and facilitates continuous learning.

chi chi’s PAR/BIRDIE/eagle/ace classes are combined

All lessons occur on the golf course in a real setting. PLAYers attain valuable knowledge relating situations they face on the course to real life challenges.

At the PAR level, PLAYers are introduced to the mental side of playing golf while learning skills that will help them on and off the golf course. The main focus of the PAR level is to assist PLAYers in acquiring several self-management techniques that will help them in managing their thoughts, emotions and behaviors in order to perform at their best on and off the golf course. Completion of PLAYer certification required and minimum age of 9 years old.

PAR focuses on interpersonal
communication and self-management skills,
golf skills and healthy habits.

BIRDIE emphasizes goal-setting, golf skills
and healthy habits. Completion of PAR certification required.

EAGLE builds on PLAYer, Par and Birdie
levels and emphasizes resilience skills,
conflict resolution, planning for the future,
golf skills and healthy habits. Completion of BIRDIE certification required.

ACE is advanced level of
First Tee’s Life Skills
Experience; focuses on personal
planning for golf, career,
volunteerism and education. Completion of EAGLE certification required.
